What is Cyclizine?

Cyclizine is a medication used to treat travel sickness. Travel sickness is a type of motion sickness, which can make you feel sick or dizzy when you travel, especially by boat, car or aeroplane. Cyclizine belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines, which can be used to help stop you feeling sick.

Cyclizine is also commonly used to treat symptoms of nausea and vomiting generally, motion sickness, vertigo, and labyrinthitis, and nausea and vomiting in pregnancy.

Cyclizine is a prescription only medication. You must have a prescription in order to buy cyclizine. Alternatively, we can prescribe it to you online following a brief consultation (questionnaire).

How it works

Cyclizine is an antihistamine. It works by blocking histamine receptors in the vomiting centre in the brain, which stops it from receiving nerve messages. This prevents disturbances in the middle ear from activating the vomiting centre, and causing nausea, vertigo and vomiting.

Cyclizine takes between thirty minutes to an hour to begin working properly.
